The Wonders of Laguna Beach

Welcome Everyone Laguna beach! Located in Orange County, California. Laguna was founded in 1887 as Lagonas and was renamed Laguna Beach in 1904. This beautiful city has some of the most picturesque beaches in the state, with boasting scenic hiking trails, lively summer art festivals, and beautiful coves.

One such cove is Victoria beach, which has a very unexpected treasure: a very random historical pirate tower. It was built in 1926 for William E. Brown, a senator for Los Angeles at the time. During the 1940’s William decided to sell the property to a retired Naval captain Harold Kendrick, a lifelong pirate aficionado that was attracted to the house due to the tower. There are stories of Harold dressing up like a pirate to play games, and host scavenger hunts for local kids.

Standing 60 feet tall with a private enclosed staircase down to the beach, the house and tower have had many owners since the construction in 1926. Rumor has it that even Bette Midler owned it at one point! For now, the skeleton key tower remains locked, with it only being access is at low tide. So when planning to come see this amazing tower make sure to bring a camera because you won’t believe your eyes! It’s another treasure for the books.

From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.-Dr.Suess
